The recycling bottle-banks at NUI Galway, previously situated near Áras na MacLeinn, have been reinstalled, but at the new location of the university’s Buildings Office.

Work will start within weeks on the removal of the roundabout at Galway Shopping Centre converting it into a signalised junction, according to Cllr Mike Crowe, who said that the work take three months, and will hopefully be completed in early December before the Christmas rush.

The area we know today as Highfield Park was originally a place of green fields and rocky granite outcrops and it was ‘out in the country’. There were very few people living there. The cream of Irish adventure racers and athletes is set to descend on Westport this weekend for the inaugural Westport Sea 2 Summit Adventure Race. The event, which is only in its first year, has attracted more than 600 entries from all over Ireland and across the water.
